New Cocktail: Cheap Date

This’ll be a quick one. Lot’s going on this morning…Haircut…An office trip to the valley because some knucklehead in my building bounced his rent check…General mayhem but nothing crazy. I’m growing more accustomed to the craziness that goes on here in the morning while I’m trying to write. A couple fo hours after I posted my review of Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch I regretted it because it was filled with vitriol. Shit, I hope I didn’t come across as some angry shithead. Ha. I wasn’t having a bad day at all, there’s just deep deep resentment of these types of places, but I have to realize where I grew up was idyllic and beautiful. I should also take it easy on Los Angeles a little more. I’ll do a positive post on it in the future. It really is a weird and magical place and I’ve lived here longer than any other city.

My dad never took me to Disneyland or world when I was a kid. Instead, he would rent out a big cabin on Lake Iroquois in Williston, VT, for a couple of weeks and we would swim, fish, shoot guns, fire off homemade slingshots, grill the fish we caught, eat a lot of homemade cookies, and play board games until the wee hours of the night. I think it was money much more well spent than going to Orlando, Florida for a couple of days. Jo and I don’t see eye to eye on this subject. Our childhoods were vastly different from one another. I do understand that kids should go to Disney but at the same time they need to experience the calm of the great outdoors. It’s something I direly miss and wish was more incorporated in my life and my son’s life. Who knows what the future will bring? Maybe I’ll break out, sell a million books and then more to Oregon which is where all the other bar managers from Rustic end up. Well, two-thirds of them anyway…

So here we go. We’re entering tiki season. Passionfruit, dragonfruit, guava, persimmon, sapote, cherimoya, and quince. Oh quince! How you love to coerce the patience out of us. I guess you’re worth it though. You’re sort of this weird magical fruit. Every year I seem to forget the lessons from the one previous and start all over again.

Cheap Date

1 oz. White ‘Stache

.5 oz. Cachaca

.5 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

.5 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice

.5 oz. Razmatazz

.5 oz. Quince Syrup

.5 oz. Bananum

I’m still working on a sunchoke cocktail. Not sure if it’ll fly. Some things are meant to be roasted or fried and not combined with booze.
